LITRO On The Move…

LITRO, a free monthly literary magazine is looking for new flash and short fiction.  As I’ve mentioned before, these guys are a voice in the wilderness of the London Underground scene, and it’s a pretty cool venue.  The flash can be up to 1,000 and the shorts up to 3,000 words.  Their theme this time is “Street Fiction,” or and they usually leave the theme open to interpretation.  The deadline is April 10th, 2011, so hit the pavement, sucker!

Windmills and the Tiny Call

Tilt a windmill!  Looks like Windmills is a new publication under the Deakin School of Communication and Creative Arts.  They’re looking for small stuff… poetry up to 50 lines and prose under 1,000 words for their next issue.  They want good work – perhaps even great work – and there does not appear to be a theme that I can discern from their site.  They want literary works but from what I can tell I think there will be a wide margin of interpretation for style.  The deadline for the next issue is April 1st, 2011.

Mslexia and the Ego (women only)

Should I mind that I’m being discriminated against?  Naw…  s’all good.  Anyway, the WOMEN-ONLY literary magazine out of the UK is looking for stories on ego.  They only accept email submissions from overseas writers… but seeing as this is the U.S. well, I guess we can save on that postage and wasting of all that paper.  They want poetry up to 40 lines, flash fiction up to 1,000 words or short stories up to 2,200 words.  The deadline is March 18, 2011, so guys… take a break… ladies, get cracking!

Switchback Wants the World in the Palm of Its Hand

The electronic literary rag Switchback is looking for shorter submissions for their next publication.  The theme is “global vs. local” and they want poetry or short stories between 1,000 and 2,000 words.  Their deadline is March 17th, 2011 (I wonder if they’re Irish), and they’re based out of San Fran, so you may want to check up on what short of writing they’re really after.  They make a point of drawing a distinction between themselves and East-Coast and Southern lit, so it’s worth a look.

An Honest Lie Seeks Hypocrisy

The literary publication (print only) An Honest Lie is looking for literary fiction that touches on the subject of hypocrisy.  The magazine is published once per year, so I’d say they have a pretty high bar to reach.  Would probably also make a nice writing credit.  The deadline on this one is March 15th, 2011 and they want 3,000 to 5,000 words per short story.
