Active Minds Presentation: The National Parks

Doing research on national parks?

On December 28th at 5:30pm, Active Minds is doing a presentation on The National Parks at The Tattered Cover on Colfax in Denver, Colorado.  Join Active Minds as they tell the story of the development of our national park system and highlight some of the more notable parks and their stories.

Cliterature (ahem) Deadline for Appetite

The online magazine Cliterature (yes, you read that right) is a publication focusing on the expression of women’s sexuality.  The deadline for their next release is November 23rd, and the theme is “Appetite.”  I’ve reviewed their contributors and this is NOT a women-writers-0nly publication.  Both men and women have contributed work and they seem suitably focused on the theme but not on man-bashing;  my hat is off to them.  I’m all about theme, no matter who contributes it… not that I thin they need my approval.  ;-)

It’s National (International?) Novel Writing Month

NaNo is an event that started in the Bay area back in 1999, it’s almost a MUST DO for any aspiring novelist. The goal? Start writing on at midnight on November 1st and submit a fast and furious novel of any genre by November 30th. The rules are on the site, and the basic requirement is that it has to be 50,000 words or more. Quantity is more important than quality, but we all know that most of us writers will be tweaking along the way.

My novel is a steampunk piece called Curse of the Devoted involving a German Jesuit priest-turned demon-hunting witch. Check back for updates!
